A Frosty 60 Degrees.

So before I got to California, it was maybe like 30 degrees on average and I thought man, even 50 would be nice! It's been pretty nice out here since we've been here, we've taken millions of walks and I think the average has been like 70 degrees. Today, it was about 60 and we froze our butts off. I never thought I'd be complaining about the weather after this past winter in Michigan. But here I am! We still took a walk, but we actually needed our....gasp....hooded sweatshirts! I still love California.

And as an added bonus, here's Maya taking an "Uncle Nate nap".

Scott Lovers Anonymous

Today Kelly and I went to the nail salon with her friend, Tammy. It wasn't enough that both Kelly and I are married to Scotts, Tammy also is a Scott lover. It was pretty interesting. Hearing us as an outsider must've been pretty odd, as if the words, "my husband" were synonymous with the word "Scott" for everyone in the world. When Kelly and I talk, it makes sense when we say, "your Scott", but when Tammy was involved, we were like, "which one of our Scotts?" I was amused by it.

But anyway, so we all got a mani/pedi and a brow waxing. It was pretty cool getting my feet and legs massaged by one person while someone else massaged my hands/arms. It was like the Wizard of Oz when they're all getting primped, except the ladies weren't singing, they were talking another language really really fast. I enjoyed listening to them talk and talk and talk. I didn't care if they were talking about me, I was entertained and actually kindof hoped they were talking about me so my experience would be complete.

We're Heeeeeere!

So, hooray, we're in California! The plane ride went well. There were only a few parts that I did not enjoy: a small bout of turbulence, sitting next to a random dude, Maya getting grumpy and wiggly when she got tired and poor Maya saying (as we were finding our seats), "I'm not ready! I'm not ready! I not go on airplane!" It was so cute and a little sad at the same time, but we cheered her up and it helped that Lydia was jumping out of her skin she was so excited! Lydia said she wanted to do loop-de-loops in the plane. I assured her we would not be.

Then it was wonderful seeing Scott again! Then we stayed in the Navy Lodge for 2 nights, got our new apartment on the 1st, got our boxes and stuff on the 2nd and then my mom came with the 4th. It is amazing how much stuff we have. We have a lot of storage areas, but we need shelves upon shelves....or just less stuff. But, I'm a packrat. It's hard because I've already bought these things (such as yarn, toys, fabrics, crafting items, clothes, etc) and if I throw them away or give them away, then I have to rebuy it when I want/need it. That's dumb. Thus, we have lots of stuff and I have no organization skills, so I am still unpacking, wondering how to make it look ok. Scott did the most of it, but he's back to work, so it's up to me now. I am determined to get it done (or mostly) this week. I guess we will see.

But I cannot stay up too late any more. The girls have been not very good sleepers lately. They now have their own room together (as in, not in bed with me), but their beds are apart. So, I understand that things are new and weird, but Maya waking up at 1am or whatever and screaming her head off unless I stand up and hold her while she drinks milk....yeah, that is effing horrible! Last night, I absolutely refused to go get her some milk. She must've screamed for 15 minutes and I did cave and just let her come into our bed, like most of the nights, but no milk. Then Lydia woke up at 630 and was ready for the bubblegum I promised they could have in the morning if they went to sleep in their own beds at bedtime. Advice: Never promise "When you wake up, we'll blahblahblah...." unless you are prepared to do it when they wake up. Trust me.

But anyway, things are going really well mostly. The girls have gotten to play outside a lot in our little yard, I even bought a hose and sprinkler today and they played for a long time in it. I'm actually getting some pigment to my skin. My days of glowing in the dark are slowly fading away. (Did I already blog about glowing in the dark? It's a true story.) I love the weather so far, beats the weather we were having when we left Michigan. But of course, I miss my family and friends.
