Marvita loves the Easter Bunny.

So, there are only 3 days until I am on the plane about to land in California! I am so excited! The next couple days are going to be tough for a few reasons. Tomorrow, I'm gonna get a jump on packing the car for my mom to drive and my sister, niece and nephew are coming to visit. Then Saturday, I am looking forward to seeing people before we leave, but I am not looking forward to crying any more. I hate not knowing when we'll be able to come back. So it makes it sad to think that I might not see my family or friends for maybe a year? I don't know if it'll be that long or longer, but with Lydia starting real preschool this year and Maya will be over 2 (then you have to start paying for a seat), it makes it harder to plan and more expensive. Ok, I'm boring myself.

Here are some websites I love:

-perezhilton.com I read this every day. Sometimes I check it multiple times a day. For some reason, I'm obsessed with celebrities. I bought InTouch for quite a few months, but I stopped because the website is free. Although I do miss the "Who wore it better?" section.

-fourfour.typepad.com Also a blog by a gay guy. I especially like the recap blog about America's Next Top Model. He recaps every Monday and I rush to the computer to read it. I'm not sure if people who do not watch ANTM will think it's as hilarious as I think it is. The picture to the right is a lovely creation of his. That's a photoshopped head of one of the "models" on ANTM (Marvita). Dumb crap like that makes my day.

-craftster.org I love seeing what other people craft and getting ideas. But sometimes it's a time sucker for me. I'll look for hours at all the things. It is a crafter's dream and nightmare all at the same time.

Ok, that's the short list. I'm tired.

But one more thing: The other day, my dad was trying to say "Long Beach" in a snooty way and he ended up saying, "Long Bee-otch" and it was the funniest thing coming from my dad, a prudish fella who wouldn't dare utter a swear word!

Rawhide is not yummy.

Woah, long time no blog. (Yes, I know that was totally gay.)
Anyway, so these past few days have been filled with fun! Saturday, the Wii-ish party at Anna's, Sunday, my aunt and uncle took the girls out for the day, then Monday we hung out in Lansing.
Saturday started off good, then Anna made the strongest drinks ever and Jell-O shots that burnt on the way down and for a short time thereafter. Then I got silly/stupid and started "death pointing" at Aaron for whatever reason. Then my dog/cat allergies started making me sneeze. Then I made the first mistake of thinking I dropped a chip on the floor, then the second mistake of thinking it'd be ok to eat it after I picked it up, the third mistake of dipping it into the cheese dip and finally, the fourth mistake of trying to take a bite which led to the realization that it was Nina's rawhide in the shape of a chip. Nice. (Note-not Nina in the picture.)
Sunday was supposed to be my day of recovery, but since my aunt and uncle took the girls, I felt obligated to do some actual cleaning, so I did my car, then went to the mall for a little Victoria's Secret shopping. The girls had a blast, they went to the civic center and they saw the Easter Bunny, pet some farm animals and then ate some crap at Denny's.
Monday, we went to visit our friends in Lansing. Lindsey, Amanda, Kristen and the kids. And then a couple uninvited guests to our Burger King St. Patty's party! Kristen saw a friend there (which was totally cool), but then there was this poor little girl there with her Grandma or whatever. The lady ticked me off so bad. She was there with books, her phone, business stuff, whatever and she pretty much completely ignored the girl even when the girl hadn't been out of the playland in a while. So then Kristen got out the cupcakes and all the kids swarmed to the table, including the little girl. Then the grandma (who had her back turned to the whole thing the entire time) got up and went out of the playland to another table to read more and talk more on the phone. So I decided to just stare at her. She looked up a couple times and I know she saw me. So we weren't sure if the girl should have a cupcake, but I felt bad because it's natural for a kid to think they're invited if the rest of the kids there are getting a cupcake. Plus, it wasn't her fault that the grandma was a creep. So I told her to ask if she could have one and then the grandma finally came back in and was like, "I don't want her to just invite herself..." so half-hearted it made me even more mad, so I mumbled, "Too late!" I'm such an under my breath trash talker...nope, no balls here! So then things were ok, I put that rude grandma out of my mind and I resumed having fun with my friends.

So these past few days have me already missing my friends. I love you guys and I want to take you with me!

Set in stone!

We now have totally set plans! I decided that the stress of having stand-by tickets was not worth saving a few bucks. So our plane tickets are for March 30th (Sorry, not April!) and we have reservations for Navy lodging for the 2 nights until we get our apartment. I am really excited!!! I can't wait to have our own place again. And it sounds like our place is gonna be awesome. Lots of storage, lots of rooms and a back yard...a teeny tiny one, but still somewhere that the girls can play that's fenced in. So, WOOHOO!

Tonight, I watched America's Best Dance Crew and I'm so sad that BreakSk8 is out. BOOO. It seems so geeky for them to be on rollerskates, but it is amazing what they can do. Now I'm
cheering for the Jabbawockeez. The masks totally creep me the eff out, but they are awesome dancers. If you haven't seen this show, you must check it out. Seriously. It's on MTV all the time. It's probably on again right now.

So while we've been at my mom's house, I've found us all doing pretty out of the ordinary things to keep ourselves occupied. Here's a list of things that I can think of:
-The girls put makeup on me. Sadly, no picture, couldn't find working batteries. But my whole face is light blue, pink, brown, and incredibly sparkly.
-The girls played with colored paper clips for like a half hour at least. They sorted them, threw them around and picked them up with magnets.
-I lay down on the bed and tell the girls that we're playing "Hair Salon" and they brush my hair, put clips in it and I get to relax the whole time.
-Pretended to be puppies..dalmatians to be exact..face makeup and all. (I did put pictures on Myspace.)
-Made obstacle courses.

I guess that's all I can think of right now. I gotta get some sleep.

A Revelation!

Ok, today I was thinking about the movie Madagascar for whatever reason and I kept saying something that the zebra said, "Oh, Sugar-Honey-Ice-Tea!" And I realized how sneaky those people who write children's movies are. Just think of the acronym! I'm amazed, honestly, that's genius. (But apparently, I'm not the first one to notice it!)

So now we might be flying out on the 30th because I am impatient. One thing that I am stressing about now is that we are getting buddy passes (yay, thanks, Ed!), but they are stand-by, so it is a possibility that we could not be able to get on the flight after the fun of getting all the way to the gate. I don't really know what to expect in this whole excursion. I mean the only time I've ever flown was to Germany and that was what, maybe 10 years ago? Many things have changed since then, plus it was a totally different situation. I did work security at the airport about 5 years ago, so I know kindof what happens before you get on the plane, but once I'm on the plane...eek! Plus I'll be pretty much alone with both girls for most of it, their bed time will be about an hour into the flight and I have no guarantee that they'll sleep at all. I feel like even though I can plan to have a lot of snacks and toys, I cannot plan for how they'll behave (or misbehave). Then, we have to get there early (at least 2 hours!) and keep the girls occupied before we even get on the plane. I mean, if they don't sleep, that's like at least 7 hours of figuring out what to do to keep them happy in a confined place. And if we want to take a small walk while waiting, I have to carry everything we have with us. I mean the list of stresses goes on and on! Even though all that is going on in my head, I'm still really excited and cannot wait to go. One thing that's making things easier is that I have a ton of things planned for the weekends coming up and the weeks go by so quickly already.
Ok, it's almost 2am. Better get a wee bit of sleep!

I'll have the chicken with a side of insanity.

So this past weekend, we had 3 birthday things to go to. Thursday was my mom's birthday, so we went to Chili's. It was good. The girls behaved very well. Then Friday was my niece, Molly's birthday, so we went to Chuck E. Cheese, then to Macaroni Grill. Then Saturday, we went to the girls' friends' birthday party.
Friday was the day I ordered my chicken with a side of insanity. We were at the Macaroni Grill and at first, things were going good, the girls got a pizza to split, they had a good time coloring and enjoying being with family. Then the cake and ice cream came out and they scarfed it down! My girls can put that stuff away! We were all amazed at how fast Lydia ate hers. So anyway, we're about to leave and I said I wanted to take Lydia to the bathroom before we left and she took off running back into the restaurant! She ran around there literally for a minute. Which felt like a lifetime trying not to yell across the room, but trying to figure out how to get her to stop. She was hiding under the tables, giggling the whole way. Luckily, it was about 2pm, so there weren't too many people, but everyone who was there was cracking up. Then finally, she ran back to my sister and she was no longer a wild child. I asked her what in the world possessed her to run around like that and she said she didn't know, of course. But then she apologized and melted my heart again.
Having Lydia as my daughter is such a roller coaster ride. She cracks me up and then three seconds later, she's got me so angry. She has this gravitational force and loves to talk and perform and be the center of attention. And it's funny to think that she's really been this way since she's been born. She is true to herself and I hope that she stays this way and doesn't ever let anyone break her spirit.

California, here we come!!

We got our call yesterday! We get our townhouse on April 1st! The girls and I are going to fly on either the 1st or 2nd. I am going nuts thinking about it! It's wonderful!!! Now I have a ton of stuff to do in the next few weeks. Ok, gotta go...busybusybusy!

ONE STEP CLOSER!!

I checked the housing list and we've moved up a spot! We're at 27 now. Scott told me yesterday that he talked to the lady in charge on Friday last week (why am I just now hearing about this?!) and she said that she had just called someone who was 4 spots ahead of us to get their apartment. So, it looks like within the next couple weeks, we should be called??!! When we're called, then we have 2 weeks until we actually move in. I am so excited!
When Maya got me up this morning, I asked her if she wanted to check the list like we do every morning and she got excited. But I had to make a pit stop before we got to the computer room, so when I was finished, Maya says, "Check wist!" It was cute. And she's a genius. There, I said it.

Maya, the optometrist.

I got 2 pairs of glasses like 3 or so years ago and I never ever wore the one pair because they never fit my head (plus, soon after I got them I realized they looked like SpongeBob's glasses). I never bothered to take them in to get them fixed. But a few months ago, the arm of the other pair just spontaneously fell off-it was the weirdest thing, I was just bending over and it just fell right off. I've been stuck with glasses that fall off my head if I even nod my head yes. So anyway, this morning (I guess it could now be called yesterday morning), I woke up to Maya asking me if I wanted my glasses and then Lydia freaking out saying, "Oh no! She's bending them!" So I popped up and I tried them on and poof, they fit! (Crooked, but they fit!) I was astounded. I could probably do a handstand in them and not have them fall off. Hooray for Maya, she saved the day. But I still think I look like SpongeBob.
And P.S. I actually took that picture of me before I found the one of SpongeBob. Maybe those glasses invoke that expression.
Ok, off to bed.

Why does this always happen?

Every day, I plan all the things I want to get done once the girls are asleep, then I always end up falling asleep myself. Then I wake up 2 or hours later, think to myself, "Man, I'm tired, I should go back to bed.....I'll just check few things on the internets." Then a few hours later, I'll realize that I'm going to be tired tomorrow because I have no intention of going to bed yet. Well, I pretend I'm going to bed...right after this....or this...ok..just a few more minutes...then, Oh crap, it's 3am! Then I start calculating how much sleep I'll get if I go to sleep now...or maybe at an even number...or quarters of the hour...

This is what I say I'm going to do every night:

1. Knit a little, so I can finish a project for once. (Current project: A pig for Lydia. I've never knit a toy before...I've never knit anything but square/rectangular things, so I'm excited to see the end result.)

2. Work out. I bought myself a workout video and did it the first night it came in the mail. It's fun and the lady seems to be insane, but who has the energy for working out at 9pm after the kids are asleep? Not me. This is taking enough out of me.

3. Write little notes to friends/family to keep in touch. Everyone loves mail, right? So I bought cute little note cards that required a little assembly, did that while watching a movie and they've sat on the side table for about a week and half waiting fr me to write the notes inside. I'll get around to it...tomorrow..

4. Check e-mail, look at my regular websites, tool around a bit on the internets. No problemo!

Ok, I can get 5 hours of sleep....right after I check one more thing....

Hiding out!

Hi, I am Rochelle and I will be your blogger this evening.
I'm a 27 year old Mommy of 2 crazy girls who are smarter than they need to be. They're Lydia (4) and Maya (nearly 2). I'm also a Navy wife to Scott. At the moment, the girls and I are living with my mom in Michigan while Scott gets to enjoy the wonderful weather of San Diego. We're waiting (impatiently) for our housing there.
I am hiding in the computer room while Maya naps and Lydia is watching a Barbie movie. Maya should not be napping this late, but she fell asleep between me putting her in her high chair and me bringing her food to her. Oh well.
My life isn't too exciting right now. We go through our daily routine and then start over again the next day. I'm hopeful that when we get to SD, we'll have all sorts of things to do every day. It doesn't help that it snows at least once a week here. I don't hate the snow, but it just makes things harder when I have to get 2 kids in and out of their car seats, make sure they're warm enough and keep them safe in it all. But at least it's fun to take them out and let them play in it. The girls are pretty much my life right now. Sometimes I wish I had more to do, but I guess right now it's not practical for me to have too much going on. Maybe once Maya's in school, I'll be able to make my own dreams come true and go to school to be an architect. I am apprehensive about it, though because what happens if I go through schooling for it and I find out it's not what I thought it was? That would suck, what would I do then? I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
Ok, time to play Disney Guess Who! Lydia kicked my butt last night at it.
