Just another day....?

I keep telling myself to write a blog at least every couple days, then by the end of the night, I can't even think straight, so I flop on the bed and watch tv. I'm loving that Project Runway is on again. And Shear Genius. I seem to gravitate towards all the fashion "reality" tv shows. What are they calling it now, unscripted tv shows? Whatever people call it is fine with me, just keep it coming. I will live vicariously through others who have some sort of fashion sense because frankly, I drew the short straw on that one! (Just ask Kelly, she saw me in my black walking outfit...after that, I'm pretty sure I need supervision when shopping.) I dream of the day Stacy and Clinton ("From TLC's What Not To Wear!") come and accost me while I'm going on my daily walk.

But anyway, as I keep saying, the days keep going by so quickly! I'm loving it. Even when we have nothing much going on, the day seems full. Of course, even the most mundane tasks become an event for me and the girls.
Take for instance, our daily walk: Today I figured since we walk past the Postal Annex every day, I'd be able to drop off a couple items on the way, no big deal, right? Wrong. I didn't have a bubble envelope, so I had to buy one there, so I brought the stuff to put in the envelope and put it under Kelly's stroller so my kids wouldn't destroy it in our wagon. But when we got there, I realized I had forgotten to bring a major part of what I was sending. Crap. Oh well, I figured I'd just go for our walk and then go back up later, I guess it wasn't a big problem. Then we always go to Trader Joe's for bananas. Kelly decided not to get any, but I really wanted some, so I went while she waited a little distance away. So I shopped and got to the cashier and realized I had forgotten my purse under Kelly's stroller. So I called Kelly and she met me part of the way. But then I still had to walk back, I thought about not going back, but I had also picked out frozen strawberries, so I didn't want to leave them to thaw at the register. So I went and waited in line again and then paid my $3 and was on my merry way. Then, last but not least, when we got home, I grabbed the forgotten item, then went for walk #2. When I got there, I realized I had forgotten the addresss. (Yes, this is my life...I am officially a scatter brain...I swear I do not think I was like this before kids.) Luckily, I had just given the address to my mom the day before, so I called her to get it back. Then we rushed back before the phone company guy came to fix our phone. (Another thing that has taken up quite a few of our days...in the past 4 months that I've lived here, I have had 5 cable/phone guys come to the house, one guy was here twice. My neighbors must wonder what kind of thing I've got going on here!)
So, you see, a boring day for me, is never a boring day.

I will now leave you with some pictures of the girls in their newly separate rooms!
Lydia, thrilled to have her own room to kick her sister out of!

Maya, happy in her super-clean room. (I asked the girls to clean up the stuff that used to be under Lydia's bed...so they put it under Maya's bed. They were proud of their awesome cleaning abilities.)
Lydia snuggled up with her doggy that Scott bought her. (Looking at this picture, many people are represented here...we have my niece, Molly's old bed, my old pillow case, an afghan made by my Grandma Hot Dog, a pillow I made, and the dog from Scott. And this is weird, but when she sleeps, she reminds me of Joel, my brother, when we were kids. Wow, that was a lot of info. There will be a quiz later.)

Take THAT, 10 year old boy!

Since we moved here, we have had someone ringing our doorbell and running away. It's at random times of day, a couple times it was after the kids were in bed. Luckily they never woke up, but the possibility of it happening makes me angry. A couple times it happened, I could hear little boys giggling, but I couldn't see anyone out the window (I stopped actually answering the door after the first time.).
BUT TODAY...the little twerp rang the bell and when I got to the window, I could see him hiding behind a truck in the street. I watched him for a minute and saw him run by the house across the grassy area from us. He was hiding behind a column, so I figured, now is my chance! So I ran over by him and I snuck up on him and said very sternly, "DO NOT RING MY DOOR BELL AGAIN. IT IS VERY RUDE." He looked like a deer in the headlights. It felt great!

Here I am! (With a few extra grey hairs...)

Hey people! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. The days and weeks have been going by so quickly! I keep telling myself that I'll post tomorrow. But then tomorrow is just as busy doing daily things.

Let's see what we've done. I'll show you with pictures and (hooray!) videos!

Matching PJs!

The PJ Dance!

Lydia's new trick!

AND (..drumroll, please....) Yet another "ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME?!" moment. After an incident that happened last week (I'll get to that one later), I haven't been letting the girls be too far away from me for too long. But today, the girls were playing really good and they said they were gonna play beauty shop. So they got out their little bag of combs, brushes, a plastic crimper and a plastic curling iron, etc, so I was bragging about how cute they were being to my mother-in-law on the phone. So she wanted me to look something up online, so I figured, ok, no big deal, they're being good. So then after a few minutes, they came upstairs and were ready to get their play clothes on. I saw that Maya's hair tie wasn't in and it looked like it made her hair stand up funny, but upon further inspection I found out what REALLY happened..............

These 2 things happened last week that made me start keeping a little better of an eye on the girls:

*While I was making dinner, I thought Maya was innocently watching tv in the living room. Little did I know that she had swiped my bottle of water and squirted it all over our big tv! I was beyond livid. Luckily, it has finally dried up.

*At the same time, Lydia snuck upstairs to play on the computer, peed in her pants and decided to take a bath in the sink.

I think I need to write a list of all the stupid crap that happens when I walk away from my kids for a few minutes.

I think I might need to dye my hair tonight.

Struck Copper!

Yesterday, during my second time fondling poo, I found the dang penny! It was incredibly shiny and I was amazed. I was so excited that I called Lydia over to tell her that I found it and she started gagging. Why do I find this so hilarious that she thinks Maya's poop (and vomit) is so gross? I don't know, but it cracks me up every time I see her do it. Anyway, so hooray, that stress is over.
So Happy 4th of July yesterday! Kelly and I took the kids to the fireworks and it was pretty fun...well....it wasn't bad anyway. We started off driving because the directions made it sound like it was far away, but then we got to the base and we were like across the street from the military housing that we live in. So when we got through the gate, the next guy who was routing the traffic sent us right back out the gate. DENIED! The parking lot was full, I guess. So since we were right there anyway, we drove home and walked back up there (which only took us a few minutes). Then we walked and walked trying to find a spot to sit and we ended up sitting in front of the port-a-potties. As if I hadn't had enough close encounters with bodily functions lately with the potty training and the penny hunt. It really wasn't a big deal except when one person came out and we got a nice whiff and I blurted out, "Woah! Sick!" Sometimes I forget to be subtle...good thing it was getting dark. Then the people in front of us were standing, then to top it off, the smoke from the fireworks just kindof stayed in a big cloud, so they weren't as impressive. The kids were still in awe, so it made it all worth it. Maya was asleep in the stroller about 2 minutes after the fireworks ended, Lydia had a yogurt and went right to sleep.
Oh! I almost forgot, I brought pretzels to snack on and I was holding Lydia and she turned to me and started to tell me something all excited and she sprayed soggy bits of pretzels directly into my eyeballs. It was not cool. Not. Cool.
Here's Kelly and I looking like we're drunk or something. (Is Kelly flashing a gang sign?):

And dang it, look at my whiteness. I honestly have a tan. I swear. This is my tan. We'll just say it was because of the camera flash.

The Poop Patrol

So...Kelly and I were walking and the kids were in their stroller and wagon. The girls have been obsessing over having their very own money to hold while on the wagon ride. Maya had a quarter, Lydia had a penny. They were thrilled. I think Maya's quarter got brought in the house a few days ago, so today they fought over the penny. So Kelly gave me another penny to give to Maya and a few minutes later, Lydia yelled, "SHE SWALLOWED HER COIN!" No one saw her put it in her mouth, though. Maya had only told Lydia that she had done it. But, the penny was gone and Maya started complaining and asking for milk.
So, I talked to Maya when we got home and tried to be sure if she really had swallowed it. She was pretty distraught about it, so I figured she really had and she knew it wasn't a good thing to do. She told me, "Never put coin in your mouf....never never never!"
So I called her dr and she wanted her to be x-rayed to make sure she had really swallowed it and that it cleared her esophagus. We did all of that and they said it was in her stomach, so Yay! (and Boo! all in the same breath!) So now, all I can do is wait and play with poo.
Before all of this happened, we went to Target and I passed this end cap display twice and it caught my eye both times and both times, I thought to myself, "Oh, interesting...now what would I need to buy those for" And I concluded that I didn't need them and they were kindof silly. Boy was I wrong!
What was on the display? Disposable rubber gloves.
